Meet the Cast: Amy Jo Phillips (BETTIE)

Amy Jo Phillips is a native New Yorker and was last seen singing behind (and with) Tony award winner, Lillias White at Aaron Davis Hall. Her credits include the Broadway productions of Show Boat (Queenie replacemment) and Tom Sawyer (Widow Douglas cover), City Center’s ‘Encores’St. Louis Woman (starring Vanessa Williams). National Tours of: South Pacific (Bloody Mary, starring Robert Goulet), The Tap Dance Kid (Emma stand by) and The Me Nobody Knows (Melba). Off-Broadway, Amy was seen as any one of the three “Urchins” (Crystal, Ronnette, and/or Chiffon) in Little Shop of Horrors, and she originated the role of Daphne in Pretty Faces. Other credits include Man of La Mancha, Nunsense, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Carmen Jones, Porgy & Bess and all of the women in Ain’t Misbehavin’. Amy can be seen (or heard) in the films: The Devil’s Own, Malcolm X, Music of the Heart, and the upcoming Tyler Perry Project We The Peeples, Commercials: Levis’ and the National Urban League, Voice-overs: Mobil and McDonald’s and recordings of St. Louis Woman, Tom Sawyer, Show Boat, Pretty Faces, and Voices of Broadway/Songs of Conscience & Hope. Amy dedicates her performance to her mother and wishes to thank all who have supported her along the way, especially her parents (thanks, Dad!), and GOD because He is truly amazing.
